In its 21 seasons, Hell’s Kitchen has constantly produced impressive culinary excellence and high-stakes drama. Thus, the show is a fan favorite for both foodies and non-foodies. Though all these series are worth watching, some show up more than the rest. Hell’s Kitchens’ best series are characterized by refreshing humor, unforgettable chefs, and intense drama. Additionally, comic controversy, spectacular losses, and heart-warming moments feature the highest-rated and most memorable seasons.
10 Season 6
Season 6 remains to be the most stunning show. It was filmed in Los Angeles in 2010 and featured 18 contestants competing to be head chef. Gordon Ramsay divided the chefs into two groups and mentored them. The competition involved several challenges and eliminations, with the appearances of celebrities such as Helen, Ramsay’s mother.
Season 6 is ranked as one of the best because of the penalty meted on the losing groups for serving up sub-par dishes. Holli Ugalde became the winner and later worked as executive head chef of a hotel in Atlantic City.
9 Season 18
The 16-episode series had a prize of working as executive chef at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Some of the unforgettable punishments featured in this series are cleaning the dormitories, shoveling snow, and preparing fortune cookies.
In addition, the naming of Ariel Contreras as the winner, Chris leaving because of mental health challenges, and Motto keeping his jacket even though he had left the competition makes the 2018 Hell’s Kitchen memorable. Season 8 holds records of having many chefs with a perfect score of 5 on the latest Signature Dish Challenge format.
8 Season 20
Season 20 titled “Hell’s Kitchen: Young Guns” is among those highly ranked. Watching 18 chefs below 24 years under Gordon Ramsay is a great delight. Joining this season are Jason Santos, the second-placed in Season 7, and Christina Wilson who won season 10.

Seasons 10 and 11 witnessed blue teams performing dismally with five losses. Nonetheless, such history was broken when the blue team recorded 7 losses after failing the first three dinner services and the four challenges. Trenton Garvey won this season as Megan Hill settled for the second ahead of chef Wilhelm.
7 Season 14
Season 14 for the first time featured an all-female finale. During the season, the chefs were divided into two groups, the red and blue. The task was to prepare and serve meals to VIPs and restaurant critics. As the competition progressed, contestants were eliminated one after another until Meghan Gill and James Avery remained. At the finale, Meghan became the winner and later worked as the head chef at the Caesars Palace hotel in Las Vegas.
Though this season doesn’t feature a lot of shocks, overall it is an exciting one. Some of the great chefs featuring in this Hell’s Kitchen later returned in subsequent seasons
6 Season 10
Unlike other previous series, Season 10 witnessed a change in the production company, specifically with ITV America began airing in mid-2012. The two subdivided teams, blue and female, were deemed losers since they failed miserably in the contest. Interestingly, for the first time in the history of Hell’s Kitchen, no chef withdrew from the contest.
Philadelphia’s Chef de Christina emerged as the winner of 18 contestants. She was awarded $250k and promoted to the Head Chef at Gordon Ramsay Steak, Las Vegas. Overall, Season 10 was a solid one with many epic chefs.
5 Season 9
Season 9 witnessed chefs contesting for New York’s executive chef position. There was the usual intense drama between the participants. This season was the last one to include double dinner service, however, for the first time, it featured Private Charity Night. It is the only one in which black jackets scored during the competition.
Like most other seasons, the 18-member team was divided based on gender with the male in the blue team and the female were on red. Chef Paul from Florida was declared the winner and appointed as Head Chef at Steak. He also backed up a salary of $250,000.
4 Season 21
The latest season was released on 29 October 2022. 18 participants competed and for the third time, after Seasons 1 and 18, chefs weren’t divided based on gender at the beginning of the season. Age was used instead, whereby the red team was contestants aged in their 20s while the blue team was in their 40s. The teams were divided using gender just before the fourth episode. The participants had 45 minutes to prepare signature dishes as Ramsay recorded their scores.

One of the memorable punishments was when the blue team was coerced to clean the kitchens as the red had dinner with Ramsay.
3 Season 5
The fifth season has interestingly memorable unique ways of elimination. It’s the only season in which the contestants were eliminated during service. Also, the first contender willfully withdrew from the series during elimination. One of the incidents widely discussed by the viewers is Benjamin’s threat to physically harm another participant when he was disqualified.
In this 2009 Hell’s Kitchen series, female participants were in the red team while their male counterparts were in the blue. Jennifer Norma became the winner. Generally, this season featured an intensive competition, a high-pressure, volatile atmosphere, and challenging cooking tasks.
2 Season 2
The second season features a new concept previously excluded in nearly all TV shows before. It saw the division of teams based on gender. To claim that Season 2 became a hit due to the introduction of such a division is ironic since it witnessed a monthly viewership of over 9 million.
Season 2 premiered in 2006, with 12 participants was won by Heather West. The memorable moments are when Garret accidentally flipped off Gordon, and when Larry took the exit because of health problems. Some of the few punishments encountered are fumigating the kitchen and hand-washing clothing. Generally, this season shaped the path this show followed.
1 Season 17
Season 17 comprised 16 episodes. It was aired on Fox in 2017. This season differs from the rest since 16 previous chefs, mostly from the 14th season, who made into black jackets contested again. It’s also worth noting that Black Jacket Challenge for the first time resulted in the elimination of 2 participants. Similar to Season 9 which holds the longest line of women chef’s elimination, this season had five of them. Furthermore, it’s the last one to have a female runner-up.
Michelle, previously placed third in Season 14, became the winner. He was appointed the executive Chef at Palace, Las Vegas. Notable punishments featured inSeason 17 are consuming sickening fish dishes and crushing peppercorns using their hand.
