Side missions aren’t obligatory, but some of them that involve major characters will influence the type of ending the player can have. However, these hidden, fun, and sometimes ridiculous side missions are bound to be both entertaining and full of great rewards if one manages to find them.
Updated November 3, 2022, by Graham Page: Following the popularity of Netflix’s Cyberpunk: Edge Runners, there has been a resurgence of interest in CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk: 2077 game. While upon initial release it came with numerous bugs and errors, these have now largely been eliminated through many patches released by the game studio. Although the main plot line for Cyberpunk: 2077 is well written and will take some time to complete, there are plenty of side quests available to keep mercs busy and active. Rewards often include eddies, unique, legendary weapons, and more experience to help create the perfect build. The stories of many a choom can be found on the dirty streets of Night City if one knows where to look.
28 Space Oddity
In Act 2, V can visit a gas station in Rancho Coronado and get their hands on a special laptop. The previous owner of this item is face down by a nearby dumpster and V needs to obtain it from some local bums first.
Once this has been done, however, there is the opportunity to score a famous painting that has been stored on the moon. The quest provides interesting world-building and a rare item that can be sold for more than a few eddies.
27 Happy Together
Any time in Act 2 of the main story, V can visit a neighbor, Barry, in the Watson Mega Building they call home. At the behest of Barry’s former NCPD co-workers, V checks on Barry to see how he’s holding up.
V can speak to Barry’s colleagues and call it a day, or, alternatively, they can do some digging and find out just how little anyone knows about Barry’s situation and the isolation of living in a cyberpunk dystopia
26 Epistrophy
Cyberpunk: 2077 deals with advanced technology that is ubiquitous and takes place in a city in which even the local cab company can be run by artificial intelligence.

This quest line starts in V’s Mega Building at the beginning of Act 2 and involves chasing rogue Delemain “children,” some of whom have certain familiar voices. Completing the process may invite V to question just what an AI actually is.
25 I Can See Clearly Now
Outside a Mega Building in Westbrook, Japantown during Act 2 is an S.C.S.M. (Spontaneous Craving Satisfaction Machine) with a bright personality called Brendan.
While AI has advanced in the world of Cyberpunk: 2077, a vending machine AI is definitely unusual. Following this quest that it hands out is a simple process but can add a level of humor to the game that can easily be missed.
24 Sinnerman
What starts out as a simple gig for the fixer Wakako turns into a drive with a criminal now attempting to repent his former acts and has accepted the death penalty that is due.
The difference is, however, that he is willing to be crucified and have the brain dance distributed. V can walk away at any time, but following the quest to its end may result in players hammering the nails in with their own hands.
23 The Information
V meets Judy as part of the main quest line and following up with her in Act 2 lets them both find Evelyn Parker, V’s contact for the gig in Act 1.
What starts out as an investigation to find someone can turn into a revolution of dolls, people who provide whatever a client needs in exchange for money. With V’s help, however, these dolls will have a chance of working for themselves instead of an uncaring gang.
22 I Fought The Law
If V pays attention in Act 1 while in Konpeki Plaza, they can witness a conversation between mayor Rhyne and Arasaka representatives that becomes significantly more relevant to a questline that occurs later in Act 2.
Investigating the death of mayor Rhyne can lead down an intriguing path of betrayal, greed and can allow V to get close to the detective investigating the case and their family. It’s also one of the best side quests in Cyberpunk 2077 and is well worth checking out.
21 Over The Edge
Near a Mega Building in Santo Domingo, V can find some unusual graffiti that resembles the markings on the back of Edge Runner David Martinez’s jacket.

A nearby brain dance lets V watch a scene from the hit Netflix series and learn what it means and what happened to at least one former member of David’s crew. It’s a nice little tie-in and serves as an Easter Egg of sorts for fans of the franchise.
20 The Beast In Me
Street racing in Cyberpunk: 2077 involves riding through city streets with plenty of bullets flying. It’s a great chance for V to test out those driving skills for some decent eddies as well as giving the bartender at Afterlife a deep backstory.
Players needn’t worry if V doesn’t have a decent ride either as Clare is happy to lend her own private ride for these races.
19 Beat On The Brat
In the far future, boxing is still a popular pastime with street fights offering new and varied ways to pummel contenders. Naturally, there’s a side quest dedicated to this pursuit.
Coach Fred starts this quest line in V’s mega building and if V plays their cards right, they can end up in the ring against a former heavyweight boxer. The resulting fight is certainly challenging, but players can stand to make a good amount of eddies if they win.
18 A Day In The Life
Violence and crime are commonplace in Night City and nowhere is this more evident than a market in Arroyo, Santo Domingo.
The quest itself is short, but it shows how deep the hate runs between gangs, corps, and ordinary people just trying to live a life. While minor in scale, the quest reveals the depths of world-building that can be found throughout the game.
17 Ballad Of Buck Ravers
Johnny Silverhand keeps V company throughout Act 2, but It’s rare to find out much beyond the surface of the character outside the main storyline. Thankfully, there’s a side quest that does exactly that.
The Ballad Of Buck Ravers quest lets Johnny see how different the world is from the one that he remembers and also lean how he is remembered in the wake of his death. It’s one of the most interesting side quests in Cyberpunk 2077, particularly for fans of Johnny.
16 Psycho Killer
Cyberpsychosis is still something of an unknown in Cyberpunk: 2077 but someone is willing to lay down some eddies for research subjects. With dedication and a careful hand, V can find those who are violently insane and maybe help the research for a cure.
Each Cyberpsycho has a background and reasons for their break that can show what can happen to a person’s life if pushed too far. This is easily one of Cyberpunk 2077’s best quests and a must-play for fans of the futuristic title.
15 Fortunate Son
In order to start this side mission in the Nomad Camp, make sure to complete Panam Palmer’s final mission, Queen of the Highway. Travel to the camp where a small quest marker is located and speak with a man who’s watching over his sick son.
After the quest begins, V needs to head over to a meeting spot in Kabuki with a doctor. However, as suspected, the plan doesn’t quite go according to plan when NCPD floods the scene. After dealing with them, speak with the doctor once more to decide his fate, which will also determine what happens with the sick nomad boy.
14 The Highwayman
Players looking for amazing vehicles in Night City should set their sights on this quest, the reward of which is the Nazare Itsumade bike. To begin the quest, head over to a fast travel terminal called Rancho Coronado East, and walk straight towards the giant dam with Petrochem on it.

One of the buildings by the dam will have a garage in the back, with clues to start a special mission called The Highwayman. Follow the clues from Japantown to Northside, until they lead to an All Foods plant and another garage door behind a code. Punch in “0214” and voila, one of the best bikes in the game has been unlocked.
13 Bloody Ritual
Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t a horror game, but there are some incredibly disturbing details and quests that will give goosebumps to even the toughest of Night City mercs. Head over to the Northside after completing the main quest Playing For Time, to a quest marker southeast of the docks and the marketplace.
A bloody scene will greet V. Collect a bunch of clues from the bodies around, and prepare for a very frightening fight as someone, or rather, something rises from the bloody mess of a freezer plopped in the middle of the scene.
12 Bullets
While V is doing some casual shopping, they can also encounter a surprise Cyberpsycho. Players should head to Downtown in the City Center and enter Jinguji, one of the finest clothing stores in all of Night City. Speak with Zane, the shopkeeper there, and enter the shop screen.
After browsing, a Cyberpsycho will actually walk in and start a racket. It’ll be impossible to leave the store during this time, so V can either kill the psycho or wait for MaxTac to show up for help. It’s a nice way to see MaxTac in action.
11 Venus In Furs
Meredith Stout is one of the major side characters showcased in the game’s demos as well as the first act of the game. The Militech corpo lady can either be tricked by using her as a target against Maelstrom, or she can be befriended by allowing her virus to wreak havoc on Maelstrom.

If V chooses to side with her rather than against her, Meredith will call V at a later time in the game and state that she’s going to be leaving Night City. Choose to say that V will miss her, and a special secret romance quest will start, which also has the reward of one of the most unique and strange adult-themed weapons in the game.
10 Coin Operated Boy
This quest becomes available after V has survived the consequences of Act 1. Head over to The Glen in Heywood and walk over to Megabuilding H8. Inside, there should be a very peculiar machine called Brendan. Interact with him and the quest will begin.
The quest can’t be completed all at once. It involves waiting in between and then coming to find Brendan again. Eventually, Brendan will be moved to a different location, which will send V on a hunt for him. It’s not a quest with great rewards, but it’s definitely fun and extremely unique.
9 War Pigs
There’s a special treat for any corpo lifepath Vs out there who still have an immensely bad taste in their mouths about what Abernathy did to them. At some point, Frank, an old friend from Arasaka will call V and ask them to join forces to take down Abernathy. Meet Frank at the set location.

Unfortunately, things don’t quite pan out as planned, as is often the case in Night City. Still, it’s nice to see these quests that refer to the actual introductory part of V’s lifepath pop up later on in the game. Maybe in the future, corpo Vs will finally have the opportunity to get real revenge.
