9 Little Nina, Big Threat
For the comics, when The Boys venture to Russia, Little Nina is there to cause quite the big trouble. This character is working closely with Vought to overthrow the Russian government. She is a greatly feared mob boss and has a detonator with a special frequency to blow up the heads of Supes. Not only that, but she’s a very small woman, with an addiction to pleasure.
8 Queen Maeve’s Sacrifice
In the season 3 finale of The Boys, Queen Maeve makes the ultimate sacrifice by battling The Homelander one-on-one. She puts up a great fight, and at one point, it appears as if she can finish this once and for all. Sadly, Maeve has to sacrifice herself to stop Soldier Boy from exploding everyone inside the building, and she leaves under the guise of faking her death, with no powers by her side.
Maeve’s sacrifice in the comic is equally heroic, but not as effective. Maeve throws Starlight out of The Seven’s tower, to stop Homelander from killing her. As Maeve attacks Homelander, he mocks her for having a prop sword and effortlessly punches her head clean off her shoulders.
7 The Legend
The comics have The Legend in a much more humble abode. The character is missing his feet for unknown reasons, has a relationship with Queen Maeve, and lives in a tiny one-bedroom apartment. This character was a comic book mogul who now runs a comic book store, with a head filled with every piece of information one would need on Supes.
6 Jamie The Gerbil
Even something as simple and cute as a gerbil can change from comics to live-action. Jamie was originally a hamster in the comics. This hamster was found in the corpse of Blarney Cock. Blarney, a member of Teenage Kix, was killed after Hughie punched him through the chest thanks to Compound V. Jamie became Hughie’s pet.
For the live-action show, Jamie is a gerbil with superhuman abilities. The gerbil has incredible strength, exhibited by throwing a grown man around. He can also fly and has superhuman durability. This super-powered gerbil leaves the Russian facility, with his fate remaining to be seen.
5 Infamous Herogasm
One of the more controversial aspects of The Boys series is Herogasm. The comics have Herogasm on an island resort, in which all superheroes and villains have a weekend of secret debauchery, with an array of sex and drugs far taboo to even think about.
The show was a lot more friendly in regards to what Herogasm was. The show was an orgy consisting of superheroes using their different powers. It’s still wildly inappropriate but compared to the comic version, it’s gentle.
4 Love Sausage
A beloved character from the comics, Love Sausage saw a great run during his time with The Boys. His superhero costume left nothing to the imagination and explained greatly why he was called Love Sausage. However, his title had nothing to do with his powers, and he was a great ally to The Boys.
In the show, Love Sausage is unnamed and is not an ally of The Boys. He is seen at Herogasm with other heroes and uses his sexual organ, which is his superpower in this show, as a means of pleasure. The two characters are vastly different.
3 Effects Of Compound V
One of the more interesting aspects of the comic is how The Boys are all injected with Compound V. It allows them to combat superheroes, something they do a lot in the comic. Butcher and the gang have a lot of fights with other heroes since they are all supered.
Season 3 of the show was the first time The Boys came in contact with their supply of Compound V, and it gave Hughie and Butcher different abilities. It requires a new use, as it wears off like a drug. What’s notable, is that too much Compound V will turn the user’s brain into Swiss cheese, and eventually kill them.
2 Soldier Boy, The Ally
There have been many Soldier Boys in the comics. It’s mainly a title passed down when one is killed. Soldier Boy is always seen as weak, and scared. He’s a parody of Captain America. If Captain America urinated himself at the first sign of trouble and was so desperate to get into The Seven, he would please Homelander.
For the show, Soldier Boy is one of the major players to be seen in The Boys. His strength and durability are like Homelander, and he wants to kill his former team, Payback. One of his new powers allows him to explode, and depower superheroes caught in the blast. This Solider Boy is also the father of Homelander.
1 Black Noir’s Big Reveal
In one of the most shocking moments of the comic, Black Noir reveals himself as a clone of Homelander. His mission: is to wait until Homelander goes rogue, to finally kill him. Noir had been in waiting for years, with only one sick goal in mind. This is one of the biggest twists of the entire comic.
